WHERE AND WHEN WAS THE COOPERATION FOUNDED?

The International Feed-In Cooperation was initiated by the governments of Germany and Spain at the International Conference for Renewable Energies (renewables 2004) in June 2004 in Bonn, Germany. On 6 October 2005, representatives from Spain and Germany signed a Joint Declaration in Madrid, giving a more formal basis to the Cooperation and defining the main goals and activities or their collaboration. Slovenia officially joined the Cooperation on 29 January 2007 in Brussels at the European Renewable Energy Policy Conference. Greece joined the cooperation officially on 26 January 2012 at the 9th Workshop of the International Feed-In Cooperation in Athens.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN GOALS OF THE COOPERATION?

The Cooperation intends to:
promote the exchange of experience concering feed-in systems,
improve feed-in systems where necessary by, e.g., increasing their efficiency and effectiveness,
support other countries in their endeavours to develop and improve feed-in systems,
contribute knowledge to the international policy area, in particular to the policy debate in the European Union and
increase the share of renewable energies in the overall national and global primary energy supply.

WORKSHOPS AND INTERNATIONAL POLICY MAKING

In the effort to contribute to a further improvement of feed-in systems, the Cooperation organizes two international workshops per year.
Policy-makers and researchers take the workshops as an opportunity to share experiences with the various design options of feed-in tariffs and discuss innovative approaches.
Several workshops have already been carried out in Berlin, Brussels, Ljubljana, Athens and Madrid.

INTERNATIONAL POLICY PROCESS

The question of optimal support policies for renewable energies is still discussed intensively, escpecially in the European Union. The Cooperation contributes to the international debates by involving key stakeholders from the Member States and beyond.
The Cooperation represents a strong platform and gives its members the possibility to speak in the political process with a united voice.
